The hashtag #IStandwithDrDosani started trending on Twitter after the owner of Rebel News, Ezra Levant, offered a $5,000 bounty for embarrassing footage on an Ontario doctor, Naheed Dosani. Levant’s stunt was described as “despicable” by Dr. Michael Warner.
On Tuesday, Ezra Levant took to Twitter to offer his followers $5,000 for a video of Naheed Dosani breaking Covid rules. This was in response to Dr. Dosani urging people to cancel holiday “get together” plans amid the Omicron outbreak. Levant has previously offered “bounties” for embarrassing footage or information on his political enemies.
Dr. Michael Warner, a Toronto ICU doctor, called the request “despicable, targeted, and violent.” Warner went on to state, “I hope that my fellow physicians, politicians of all stripes and anyone who cares about goodness and human decency condemns this in the strongest possible way.” Other public figures shared Dr. Warner’s sentiment.
Dr. Nathan Stall, the former Liberal candidate for TorontoโSt. Paul’s, was also targeted by Ezra Levant. Dr. Stall took it a step farther than Dosani, and reported Levant’s request to the Toronto Police. Dr. Stall stated he interpreted Levant’s tweet as “encouraging surveillance.”
Jim Richards from iHeartRadio slammed Levant’s tweet as “garbage. Theyโre always asking people for money to support their terror journalism charade. There ainโt no way Ezraโs organization has $5000 to give anybody if there was a video. the doctor should fake a video and donate the money to charity.“
#IStandwithDrDosani is trending on Twitter at the time of writing, spurred by several blue-check-mark accounts using the hashtag. One example, Dr. Jennifer Kwan tweeted, “I am grateful for Naheed‘s advocacy. Who’s with me? #IStandWithDrDosani.”
What’s the worry, if following the rules?
