Premier Smith applauded for ‘classy’ farewell message to political rival

The leader of Alberta continues to set an example for other Canadian politicians.

The premier of Alberta, Danielle Smith, is being applauded for her “classy” farewell message to political rival Rachel Notley.

Notley was the leader of the Alberta NDP, having previously served as the premier of the province. On Tuesday, multiple media outlets reported that Notley has chosen to step down.

I wish Ms. Notley all the best in her future endeavours and whatever comes next for her and her family,” wrote the current Alberta premier on X (Twitter) Tuesday.

Smith’s message was applauded by conservatives, many of which admired her polite farewell message.

This is how a Premier with high integrity responds to the retirement of a rival. Well done Premier Smith,” wrote one of her supporters.

Smith won the recent Alberta election, despite a barrage of attacks from left-wing and right-wing media outlets, as was previously reported by Toronto 99.
