Turkish video game players have a request for Rockstar Games.
A petition demanding Rockstar Games add Turkish subtitles to the latest edition of Grand Theft Auto is currently going viral. The petition has amassed over 11,000 signatures in 24 hours.
Rockstar Games will be releasing the 6th installment of Grand Theft Auto (GTA 6) later this year. The game will be in English, but will feature subtitles in 12 other languages including Russia and Mandarin.
Turkish video game players are upset they will not be able to enjoy the game in their preferred language and have taken to social media to voice their frustrations. The hashtag #WeWantGTA6inTurkish is currently trending at the time of writing.
Despite this pressure campaign, Rockstar Games has refused to announce subtitles in any language besides the 12 it originally planned for. The video game company has failed to even acknowledge its Turkish customers, leaving many people feeling betrayed.
Millions of people speak Turkish worldwide, and the country has a population of close to 88 million people. It is not clear why Rockstar has chosen to abandon its Turkish customer base.
