Corporations are slowly learning it doesn’t pay to appease the radical left.
Following in the footsteps of Bud Light, KFC’s parent company Yum Brands saw a drop in its stock price after a boycott against the popular fried chicken chain was announced.
The stock pride dropped from 130.04 on Monday to 126.33 on Tuesday, according to a stock price estimate from Yahoo Finance.
KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and the lesser known Habit Burger Grill are subsidiaries of Yum Brands, according to its website.
The famous chicken chain is facing a boycott in response to a campaign launched by Sikh group Non-Halal Advocacy Canada (NHAC) on Jul. 6.
Conservatives and Sikhs were outraged to learn that KFC sneakily changed their Ontario menus to offer Halal food exclusively, with plans to make all their restaurants in Canada fully Halal, as was reported by Toronto 99.
KFC may face the same fate as Bud Light, which was boycotted all over North America after it decided to feature a cross-dressing man on its beer cans.
The Canadian Democracy Coalition has launched a viral petition, and has announced tentative plans for a protest at Yum Brand’s head office.
The company has yet to respond to the boycott, petition, and possible protests as of the time of writing this article.
