Pierre Poilievre pushes back against fake news from Rachel Gilmore

The leader contender for the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) is showing that he won’t be defamed by Trudeau’s smear merchants.

Pierre Poilievre, sitting MP and prime minister hopeful, is fighting back against a persistent smear campaign against him and his supporters.

On Thursday Poilievre released a statement slamming “journalist” Rachel Gilmore for trying to tie him in with right-wing extremism.

Poilievre called Rachel Gilmore “unprofessional” and “disingenuous,” reminding her he does not support racism or far-right extremism. Poilievre pointed out that Global News is acting as a “Liberal mouthpiece.”

As highlighted by the National Telegraph, Gilmore is using the guilt-by-association tactic, trying to paint Poilievre as an extremist because he met with a man that appeared on Jeremy Mackenzie’s podcast.

Poilievre reminded Gilmore, and the Canadian public, that he is not responsible for other people’s words and deeds.

The CPC leadership contender ends by saying he will continue to stand up for every day Canadians and won’t apologize for doing so.
