Move over ISIS, domestic activists are the new terrorists – CSIS

Canada’s spy agency is directing its focus inward, devoting 50% of its counter-terrorism resources to Canadian citizens.

Were you a vocal supporter of the Freedom Convoy? Did you attend anti-lockdown rallies in your hometown? Are you an outspoken critic of the Trudeau government?

CSIS may be watching you, and consider you to be an ideologically motivated violent extremist (IMVE), according to its 2022 public report.

What constitutes an IMVE? The report is vague and offers only a general overview of CSIS’ activities in 2022.

The report states that CSIS puts IMVE’s on par with foreign terrorist groups such as ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and their affiliates and proxies.

Based on the contents of the report, anyone that speaks out against COVID-19 restrictions, dislikes the Liberal government, or supported the Freedom Convoy could be labelled an IMVE and be subject to surveillance by the spy agency’s counter-terrorism division.
