Pierre Poilievre’s party is cleaning up its house.
Simon Payette, a Conservative Party candidate in Quebec, has been let go due to comments he made about the 1989 École Polytechnique massacre.
He allegedly accused a survivor of the massacre, who happens to be a Liberal candidate, of playing the “victim game.”
Payette is the 5th candidate to be let go from the Conservative Party in the lead up to the 2025 federal election.
4 other candidates were similarly let go after comments they made resurfaced. Another candidate “joked” that former prime minister Justin Trudeau should be executed.
The Conservative Party and the Liberal Party are in a tight race, with recent polls showing the Liberal Party in the lead.
